Default Curly Maple Amp Stand

My first Dye work... It's really turning my away from the oil based stuff now that I have used dye. It's a lot like guitar building. I'm super pleased with the luthier's merchantile analine water based wood dyes.

trying to eventually match this amp:

Thanks AZanshin, it was pretty tough on the guitar building guys who would have killed to get their hands on this block of wood before I chopped it up. Easily AAAA stock of maybe even AAAAA.

That wood is so stunning! Might have made a beautiful guitar. It made a gorgeous stand though.

Josh, I've watched as you posted pics of your creations in the last few months and I believe that you have touched "grace" with this design.

For those of you who have not yet "friended" Atlas Amp Stands on Facebook, what are you waiting for? Josh generously offers one free stand a month and I was lucky enough to win the November draw. Go! You could be the next one to win.

@ martinopass - It's a Vibrolux with a flame maple cabinet, sweet rig for sure. When the sun hits it the flame maple pops.

I started banding the sassafras Ampeg cab with curly maple this week. I'm still trying to decide whether I want to stain it all Red Mahogany or English Chestnut...it will be a minwax brand stain, oil based. I don't usually stain things with oil based product.

I want this to be pretty dark in color this time. I also need to decide on a clear coat. I think I may go with a danish or tung oil after sanding up to 320.

It's looking good, fingers crossed!
