Default Just re-coned and tuned up my Polytone 101 bass amp

Rather than replace the 15" driver that delaminated after 40 years (yes, I am the original owner), I took it in for a re-cone, lube and oil change. A few pops that had developed in the pots are now history and the sound is great again. It does well with a hollow body like my Kingpin.

The original foam grill covers have long since deteriorated and the stiff mesh cover for the 15" driver is also history. I think I'll remove the mesh from the 8" drivers, leave all three exposed and get a 1/4" diameter steel grill to set into the cabinet.

I love 15 in speakers in amps for Jazz. Waiting for the arrival of an 80 Roland Super Cube 1 x 15. 100w.
Sure do like the look of your Poly.

I use one of these for upright bass and it is a wonderful thing. I have never even tried the amp's built-in octave divider but do use the "mono/stereo" switch for different sounds. I also use it for guitar, with a little old ART reverb box. Great amps.

I bought it and a Rick 4001 bass somewhere near 1975 or so. Had a friend who had just written a bunch of songs that he wanted to record. He had been a bass player but now wanted to play guitar with his own material. He asked me if I was interested in playing bass for him. I pointed out that I didn't play bass and then decided this was as good a reason as any to give it a shot.

So I bought the Ric and the Polytone and practiced for a few weeks and went in the studio. Turned out good. Wish I still had the tape. Oh well, I still got the Ric and the Polytone.

Now you have me interested in messing with the harmonic divider.
