| | Hi,
I have that one. It is a fine guitar for the price. I wound up switching the pickup to a kent armstrong because the treble side sounded kind of thin. I also moved the controls to the body and got a different pick guard.
It has been a really reliable instrument. It does feed back when played at a high volume but has a nice tone at moderate levels.
Let me know if you have any other questions. |

| | is it noticeably better sounding than the lower level ibanez archtops, or is a lot of it just the cosmetics? If the price doesn't go too much higher, I may be tempted. |

Really well made. I thought the stock pickup was crappy (muddy / flat) so Bflat was wise to swap a Kent Armstrong in. That model is discontinued so that is likely why you haven't seen it before.

| | I noticed that one too. It's not a one-of-a-kind, but I don't think they made very many of them. They still have the same top thickness as the other AF105's. I'd like to see Ibanez make these with thinner tops. |

| | I have had two other basic artcores that were decent but the af105 is a better playing guitar. Components are far superior than the lower end models. I see the 105's on craigslist occasionally for around $400. They are discontinued but aren't rare.
If you can get one for $400 you'll be pretty satisfied. |

| | Had one. I agree with everything said above. Swapping pickup for Kent Armstrong PAF made huge improvement. The nut had to go too. I also think that body woods are too thick or braced too heavily, yet it still could go into feedback at times. Otherwise it was a nicely built guitar for the money. Is it worth $400?
