Default 335 owners

Anyone with a 335 have any experience using a wound 24 for their G string. (God, that sounds a little kinky). I want to try either Newtone strings or Benedetto strings and the sets come with everything I use except for the slightly heavier G string. I have a 22w on it now. I'm concerned about it fitting in the nut slot.

Well i have an epiphone sheraton 2 and use d'addario chromes 13's which contain a 26 wound G and things seem to be fine.

How does the chrome sound in comparison to nickel wound?

I have a wound G on my 335 -- I don't remember the exact gauge, but it's around .026 (.012 E) and it works fine. I dislike the feel and sound of plain Gs, for some reason. I use a D'Addario set, something like Jazz Mediums.

I tried an unwound 22 once and could mnot intonate it. I went back to the wound string.

I've always used .013s on my 335 and 355. No problems at all. The chromes produce a really nice mellow sound with lots of sustain.

I took the chromes off of my Classic vibe Squier Tele and replaced them with d'addario light jazz. The chromes are super for slide guitar, but I like the bell-like tone of the round wounds, though. I should probably just buy another guitar for slide. Maybe that les Paul studio w/P-90s.
