Default First nice guitar

I am at the point where I feel ready to step up and get a nice guitar. I'm thinking around $2000 or so. Guitar Center has these ES335 Trad Pros that have coil split. They are ugly but seem versatile. Any opinions to offer before I jump?

If I had two grand for a decent Gibson, I'd be after a Howard Roberts Fusion III, an ES 137, or really nice ES 135. For that 335, I'd want covered pickups.

id cover the pickups, but other than that, looks nice. im glad to see a nonflame top 335 other than the 59' RI i spent WAY more on. plus it has the long neck tenon. buy some chrome PU covers and you got yourself a nice 335...at least on paper...

I have a gorgeous 2005 Gibson Howard Roberts Fusion iii (Vintage Sunburst) that I was going to post in the next week or two. If you have any interest, I'd be happy to send pictures/details. Haven't figured out pricing yet, but it will be less than $2k. Just send me a pm with your email if you're interested. thanks.

I bet you can find a nice 335 for under $2k used. I've seen quick a few lately on my local craigslist.
