Guitar A good classical guitar for latin jazz?

Hi out there? I consider to replace my Admira classical guitar with a better one for my latin/bossa playing. Any suggestions?
Greetings from Norway!

Well, it's hard to tell as everyone has a tone in his head. If you want to electrify it, I would recommend a microphone (the DPA's are a little expensive but great).

That said, go out and play lots of instruments, specially in quiet rooms if possible. That way you can identify the nuances between them.

If you want a traditional (read: classical) tone, then look for a solid spruce top and rosewood sides guitar, with full size body and without cutaway.

The other extreme would be a thinline guitar, like a Godin or something. But be careful, I've talked with a Godin endorser who played classical guitar too and he complained about these kind of guitars because of their limited dynamic range, so that's something to be careful depending on your playing style.

As I said, your best bet is to play lots of guitars. Classicals are even easier to come by than archtops, and usually near a conservatory there's always a store that carries some of them.

If your going to play with a latin jazz ensemble, then make sure to consider the problem of feedback. If feedback is a potential problem, that may move you in the direction of a solid body nylon string like a Godin.

Paco de Lucia, uses a mic'd acoustic nylon guitar and doesn't seem to have a feedback problem though. Not sure how he does it.
