My Polytone sounds OK, I guess, but the amp I find myself playing more and more for Jazz is my old Lab Series L5. Very complex sounding. If I could quiet the fan on my Mesa 2:90, though, I'd use that with my Triaxis pre exclusively.

That L5 amp seems to be in the same league of the two amps I mentioned. And you seem to agree with me since you say you like it better than your Polytone
