Jim Hall Peavy Delta Blues Amp

I was interested in the Peavy Delta Blues amp. Either the one speaker or two speaker models. Does anyone have any experience playing jazz on these amps? How does it sound and perform?

If you're playing jazz, go for the single 15" model. No personal experience with one.

The Peavey Delta Blues is a great "bang for the buck" amp! If you are looking for a higher volume clean headroom amp, this amp is NOT for you as it is a four-EL84 powered amp, and will start to break reaching medium volumes. For higher clean volumes, you'll need 6L6's or EL34's.
I consider the Delta to have very decent lower volume clean tone, and the 15" speaker model will project sound well--I say this because I A/B it to my similarly powered 12" Mesa, and the Delta's 15" speaker seems to throw out more sound. The reverb on the Delta is pretty good too.
If you are a fan of some grit to your tone at medium to higher volume, then the Delta Blues should bear consideration. I never use the gain channel, as the "clean" channel offers plenty of break-up for me.
I paid $435 for a "like new" demo. I did put in a Weber Blue Dog speaker, but only because I like that speaker--the stock speaker is fine. Places like Eurotubes offer lower-gain tube replacement sets (if the stock tubes are too gritty for you).
In short: Great price/Nice tone/Made in the USA/Not for high volume clean playing!

^ Agree! I love these amps. The lead guitar player in my rock 'n' roll band has one of the 1x15 versions, and the tone is very authoritative and sweet. Gets great gritty 60s jazz sounds too, and has quite a lot of preamp gain available if one wants it

I owned one several years ago, the single 15" version. Great amp for the used price of $350. My only complaint. Tube Rattle. The tubes rattled even at jazz volume levels. That was what prompted me to part with it. For under $400, if you can get a "tube tamer", it'd go for it. For retail price, I'd choose a used Deluxe Reverb Reissue instead.

Hello,
Tube tamers are available on Ebay for around $20.00. The image shows a Classic 30, but the tubes are the same configuration.
