Default Finished it

Just finished this for the SEGAS show, any feedback would be great, likes, dislikes, etc.

Beautiful! It also looks like you could use it in another configuration as a prie-dieu. About how much does it weigh?

My scale says 8 pounds 11 ounces. My metal On Stage brand amp stand weighs 9 pounds 7 ounces.

This is the second one ever, we are incorporating a kick plate so it can be opened and close with a foot. we also have cold rolled steel @ 3/8" for the axles, as you can see I still need to cap the axle holes. I have a piece of walnut on the lathe to turn to 3/8" asap to make the dowel for the caps The next one will be a bit larger and have a completely new hinge design. Each attempt gets better, and each old design becomes more of a rarity in the design process because it will be a one of a kind in every aspect of the term Like a concept car...

Just a few more days and we will randomly draw a winner for the free amp stand! Josh

This model really looks great! Very nice job! How would a thin hollow body Gibson fit on the guitar stand?

I have an Epi Sheraton 2 that fits it like a glove. Is that similar?

Of all the models I have seen on your website, this one is really something IMHO. I love the shape and the guitar stand. If I was to get one, this would be the one.

Maybe, I am not sure. I just posted a pic of the guitar with my amp on your facebook page.

Let me know my friend, and thanks for the support, I'd be honored to build one for you to fit your specific guitar/amp. This is my favorite stand as well, but it's not on the website. It's very difficult to keep a website current.

Josh...your stands are looking better and better as time passes.

Congratulations!

I especially like the "softer", more rounded/scooped look (i.e., fewer straight lines).

Cheers

Dave

Hi Josh: Firstly, I'm lovin' the stand you made for me with the reflex port for my Princeton Reverb. I've gotten many nice compliments on it.

I think this new stand might be your best work yet. Your designs are showing some real inovation and creativity.

All the best, Patrick

Thanks Patrick2. Good to hear your stand is serving you well. I finally met Jay Wolfe and got an amp stand in Wolfe Guitars I also got to play a Heritage for a bit with John, jay's lawyer/store manager! Very nice, but more than I can afford right now. I made it to the Nashville amp expo, but missed NAMM. Hope the vacation was enjoyable my friend. Keep in touch. Good things are bound to happen for all of us!

Let me know if you need anything, I'll do all I can to help.

Josh

Very nice sir, i would love to have one, i prefer the engraved logo than the led version, but both nice. I love the wood grain, what wood did you use?

Hi Chai, I used Black Walnut in all the pictures on this thread, except the LED panel is mostly Cherry with a walnut cover. I will likely put these up for clearance after the SEGAS and LA amp shows are over. They are demos.

Hmm, good question, I don't know. These walnut ones weigh less than my metal stands though. Walnut is pretty light. Cherry is a bit heavier due to it's tighter grain. I try to avoid softwoods such as spruce, pine, and fir. They may be lighter, but they are also much weaker. Great for a soundboard but not so great under certain tensions and compressions. Just a guess though I'd say the weight would drop off by 25% depending on moisture content and knots etc.

This was done with real spider webs, sprayed them with paint and draped across the walnut, then sealed 'em with Poly.

Say, are you a vendor on the Telecaster forum (http://www.tdpri.com/forum)? They own a lot more amps (and big ugly tubes ones, to boot) than us weedy jazz types.

No I'm not a vendor beyond my website, just sharing my work for feedback, creative inspiration etc.

I have an account at tdpri, but don't frequent the site much, when it comes to that stuff I am concentrating on music festivals and amp shows where I get to shake hands and meet people face to face. Probably shooting myself in the foot by not doing tdpri, but there are only so many hours in the day, and i spend most all of them working my rear of, so this is "me time"

finished another one. This one is Butternut wood. Made it for a guy who plays 250 plus shows for the Navy. I'm amazed at how light weight it ended up being.

Fun stuff.
