I was fortunate enough to win the November draw for a free amp stand on Atlas Stands' Facebook page.

First, let me tell you that Josh is a great guy to deal with. Great service and great communication.

As you guys must have noticed by now, his stands are beautiful and I can attest now that I have one "in hand" that they are masterly crafted as well. Josh is more than a very good craftsman, he is a genuine artist and his stands are even cooler in person than in photographs.

Greatly recommended!

Just information. The desing is wrong. Never put a electric guitar standing near a speaker. In this case is in front! Thats a fact well known. A pickup can die only a few hours near a speaker. They de-magnetize pickups so quick!

Happens to people that in concerts lay/rest the guitar against the speaker.

My english is not good. Im only want to be constructive.

I'll be doing a random drawing and giving away this Black Walnut 1RU Atlas Amp Stand on April 15.

For anyone who wants to enter it only requires a picture of your amp on its current amp stand or milk crate etc.

Here's the link for anyone interested:

Thanks paco can. I understand your concern, I have leaning my guitars against my amps without any issues of degaussing for 2 decades now. Your concerns are valid and I am grateful for the constructive criticism, my design ma be wrong for you, but all designs are relative in some way,

I have never experienced an issue with pickup performance because of de-gaussing the pickups.

"The distance between the guitar pickups and the amps speakers is at such a distance it would take a few hundred years to de-gauss the mags a small amount. I don't suggest putting the pickup right against the speaker magnet though, this will do it very quickly. Actually it would have to be opposite polarity of the pickup where they repel each other before it would do anything really."

Kind Regards.

Have you thought about building amp cabinets? Maybe get together with a local amp tech that could swap out the guts of a Blues Jr with a custom cabinet. Just a thought.

Actually I am considering rebuilding one of my AC30s to get the controls up front. john and I are trying to prep for the Summer NAMM and we want to have our own cab when we go. Great suggestion btw. I'm hoping a two tone dovetail joinery cab will work out, maybe out of walnut and Sassafras like the amp stand I'm wrapping up right now. I really like the two tone look.

Slowly but surely it is taking shape. I'm considering a trans black finish on this one.

Halfway OT:

Wearers of mechanical wrist watches should take this into account. A nephew of mine who is fiddling a lot with large speakers wondered why his Seiko 007 diver watch would never "stay in tune" and he had it regulated several times only to see it being off again after a short while. He has not had any problems after getting into the habit of taking off the watch before he handling the speakers. Makers of older military pilots watches (IWC for example) used a strong iron encapsulation to protect against the often powerful magnetic fields in aircrafts back then. It's the magnetization of the hairspring in the escape mechanism which causes these problems.

I've seen people set laptops and wallets on speaker cabs as well. probably a good idea to keep anything with data or metallic moving parts away from amplifiers in general. Also never put a tv too close to a speaker magnet. They actually put speakers in TVs, yes, but the magnets in them are usually very small.

The size of the speaker has a lot to do with how far the field will reach, and the orientation of the field has a lot to do with it as well.

I have in the past and will continue to go out of my way to help my fellow guitarists achieve the best tone available. Every guitarist I've designed with is more than happy with what they've experienced. There is no unhappy Atlas Amp Stand owner, and they've all had plenty to say: Testimonials

I'm grateful for all the support I've received from the vast majority of my fellow guitarists over the last year. I'm one guitarist with a small wood shop in rural America facing off with large corporate overseas mass producers of cheap generic amp stands.

My one hope is that there is an increase in support for small guitar gear businesses such as amp builders and luthiers. Whenever possible I prefer to help out the little guys making the good stuff as opposed to supporting the large corporations producing rushed assembly line product out of China. In many cases it is a battle that cannot be fought, but when it comes to a lot of guitar gear there is more of an opportunity to have a small builder help out who wants nothing more than to do good work that lasts forever and holds its value, and in the process really help a fellow out.

I'll remain motivated to share my craft with others, to help show others what they can do if they want to roll their own amp stands, and to build the finest handmade guitar amplifier stands that the world has every seen.

I'm giving away a free rack space amp stand on April 15th, as well as on July 4th I will be giving a stand away. I've donated several stands to the communities around here and over the past 12 months I've handed out several free amp stands. I try very hard to do my part and help out during these tough times, and I hope to make a difference.

@ zigzag - I am sorry if you disagree with my presence on forums. I sincerely hope to find a way to gain your support.

Kind Regards,
Josh

Josh, I may have to build another amp just so I can build a chassis stand like that. Do you often use spade bits for amp building?

lol, I've no idea what he had those there for, these pics came from Nathan, the stand owner...maybe he was modifying the stand so he could get tools to fit up front...no idea. I don't build amps, I just replace tubes and build amp stands.

Finished this today, it's a Studio Amp Stand out of Black Cherry for a Carr Sportsman 1x10 amp. The panels were designed like the Carr Raleigh's front valance in this first pic.

Here's a build thread for any DIYs.
