Technique Hudson Hdvs

Hi there, i was wondering... i'm the king of cheap jazz guitars, i own myself a beautiful ibanez ag 86 trd (normal price 440 euro, i payed 290 brand new), i'm quite satisfied with it but i'm desperately looking for a single pick up cheap archtop. The other day i saw this "hudson hdvs florentine sunset", super beautiful, maple top parallel braces, fat body, single pick up. It is indeed extremely cheap but it was super hard to judge it because it didn't have flat wound strings. Does anybody know this guitar? and would you recommend to replace my ibanez for this hudson? i can use any advice on hudson guitars because i really don't know them!
Thanks!

Hi, not a lot of help maybe, but in the UK a retailer called Cranes, based in Wales I think, were selling (possibly still are) guitars branded as Hudson not so long ago - there were a few on ebay a year or so ago. After looking for information on the internet, I got the impression these were made in the same factory that produces Tanglewood guitars, and were quite similar in spec/design. But basically a brand invented by Cranes. They didn't look too bad to me, though I've not seen one in the flesh.

Look familiar?
Douglas WNO 640 SB at RondoMusic.com

Chinese-made guitars "branded" by whomever. The guitars sold by Rondo get raves for being good guitars for not much money.

Slight (or not so slight) differences though.

It's the same headstock, body, and tailpiece. One company makes the basic guitar and different companies spec how they want it (cosmetic stuff like tuners and pick guard) and brand it as their own.

Bingo. Plus the floating vs. body mounted pickup, and either drilling two holes for the two pots or one pickguard mounted pot.
