Default Silvertone on KC's Craiglist

Don't know much about them other than I can't bring another guitar home without divorce papers and the first alimony check. So, I figured I'd give someone else a heads up.

50's Silvertone Blonde Archtop Guitar

It looks nice, but from what little I've read they sometimes have some bad bowing in the neck (and no truss rod). Since there is not good profile on the neck, it's hard to say.

I once had a guitar to bring for some work and wanted a used classical 7-string guitar that the shop had for sale. I had just bought a pretty expensive dreadnought so new my wife would be a little perturbed at another guitar. So, I brought along an empty case, told her I was having work done on two guitars, came home and said I managed to trade almost even up. Worked like a charm. Probably can't get away with that too often, though.

Ah, lying to the wife. Such a wonderful way of keeping up on a loving marriage.

They can be great guitars. Probably made by Harmony w/ solid pressed top, possibly birch or spruce. They typically have necks that are separating from the body. The ones without truss rods usually have very thick necks and often are "steel reinforced" so you have to worry more about the neck separating than you do about the bowing. Looks like it is in awesome shape and probably a good deal for a local person.
