Gear Dream Setups: Post yours, and how you'd use it!

Money is no object. Use your imagination and experiences to create your dream setup. I'll post a few examples to start us off:
-------------------------
My main style is solo guitar, so I'll start with this simple, natural setup.

Ed Schaefer Custom 15 inch archtop>
Acoustic Image Clarus head>
Raezer's Edge Stealth 12 cab

This is a tried and true setup. I've heard it both live and recorded. It's gorgeous and lush, and oh-so alive. It works really well in an ensemble too.
--------------------------
Jazz-Rock Fusion, Blues
PRS Private Stock Semihollow>
Ibanez Tube Screamer>
Empress Superdelay>
Fender Twin Reverb

Delay mainly for slapback, for a "tweaked" sound. Tube screamer has always been my favorite dirtbox. Can't go wrong with a twin. The main idea of this setup is versatility.
--------------------------

You get the idea. Share your dream setup with those willing to share!

I haven't played enough guitars to know my dream set up (hard to find high end custom archtops to take for a test drive!). Can't imagine I'd want for much though if I had all the vintage Gibson hollow bodies and semi hollows along with a nice selection of vintage Fender amps.

Of course than there is that Collings Sweet 16, a custom archtop hand built by Tom Ribbecke, a couple of custom Moffas...oh wait, I need a tele...everybody needs a good tele...oh yeah and...

Hey, you said sky was the limit right?

It's true that it's hard to find high quality guitars somebody would just let you "Test Drive". But if you listen to them, you can use your imagination. I recommend going to your local jazz club when you hear a guitarist is headlining. For me, in Houston, that bar is Cezanne, and those guitarists are the likes of Mike Wheeler, Danny McKnight, and Mike Nase, all of whom play an Ed Schaefer archtop though a Clarus head and a Raezer's edge cab as their main rig. It's a legendary combination local to Houston, as Ed Schaefer lives and works in Texas.

And yes, the sky is the limit. Like I said, use your imagination!

Actually, the sky isn't the limit. In theory, electric guitars work in space. Pickups don't need air, only vibrating metal strings. Huh, how's that for imagination?

I have this air guitar. It does absolutely everything I ever tell it to do. And I never trip on the cord when I leap across the stage. (I had it modified with wireless that runs on air batteries)
OR since we're talking real fantasy, I'd have had Jimmy D'Aquisto build me the best guitar he'd ever built, and this morning someone would have found it in a hidden vault with a note saying "David, please accept this and sorry it was to late getting to you. Jimmy D' " Oh yes, Southeby's just offered me 15 mill just to photograph it.
Hey Greta Garbo just showed up at my door delivering it. She wants me to play Misty for her.

if money was no object i'd get Manzer to build me something in a custom semi-hollow with some handwound PAF hummbuckers and run that through an old 80's Polytone or a vintage Fender twin reverb.

Hmm ...
I'd keep my Carl Martin Quattro, Henriksen JazzAmp12, and ZT Club.
Though if money were no object, I might buy a few other amps to try and then give away what I chose not to keep.
But I would definitely compare a Sadowsky Semi-Hollow and a Collings SoCo Deluxe ... and then buy both of them!

(i know, i'm on the rosenwinkel forum too )

for me:
guitars : ES335, sadowsky semi hollow, sadowsky jimmy bruno or ss15, telecaster with humbuckers (and/or telecaster without humbuckers ) i wouldn't mind a moffa too. (the moffas are beautiful indeed!)

amps : polytone, fender deluxe reverb modified (stock ones are CRAP), mesa boogie.

effects: delay still have to try to find the best one for me i like the DL4 and timefactor, para EQ, rat or similar distortion, freeze, tremolo, blender for blending clean tone with the distortion, volume pedal.

acoustic guitar : something by boucher, my gypsy jazz dupont MD50E or/and an olivier marin gypsy guitar.

i don't see what else i could want.. enough money to have the time to work on the guitar all day

I like this one because he likes his own rig already I have (most of) my dream rig already. But I would definitely buy a few new toys.

Lotta new pedals for the side of me that isn't jazz. But again, my pedalboard is basically already what I want.

As for guitars, my backup is still the first electric I've owned, a pre-owned kinda poor conditioned Tele... But as it turns out, after setting it up better, I really like Teles. I'd just like one that sounds better than one that very obviously sounds like a spent $200 on it...

As for archtops, hollow bodies, semis, I'm not sure... I'm really a solid body kinda guy. I'd probably get one of those PRS Hollowbody models. Then I'd really have to try a lot of archtops, because although money is no object, space is...

Yep, I'm living my dream setup. Couldn't ask for anything more, ever since I've downsized and concentrated on PLAYING instead of accumulating gear. I'd like to get down to 2 guitars, and my main amp is a Henriksen. My main guitar is a Sadowsky Jim Hall. One day I'd like to check out a Fuchs amp, cause Vic Juris has highly recommended it. But that's pricey. Not for today.

Great combination. What else do I need? To quote a user here, "time on the instrument".

I could sit there and I could rattle off one combination after another that would stagger the imagination. In all honesty, I wouldn't sound any better on any one of those combos. I've also stopped collecting gear and am concentrating on playing. I do have a small collection of about 5 guitars but 2 of those will go to my son eventually. The others are historic. As far as the amps are concerned, I now only have one for home, one for taking out and one as a spare.

yeah I would say I'm honestly in the same boat that I don't need to spend money on new gear... now I'm selling gear and I've never been a big gear hound either.

I think probably if I could find a good delay/reverb unit in 1 pedal that doesn't sound too processed and can get me the sort of delay/reverb setting I'm using now but in 1 unit so that I can haul just an absolute minimal amount of gear. I should start looking into that...

I love my 335... I don't want to change it all I need to do is just get it re-fretted soon, probably by december... i love the pickups I put in it, strings are perfect for me... I love my Henriksen to the point that if I were honestly going to buy another amp I'd buy a 2nd one to run stereo (haha).

My dream setup is simple: a special clock that I can reset to give me another hour to practice whenever I look up and see that I have to go to work (or mow the lawn, or wash the dishes, or ...)

My dream setup is ultrasimple: Buscarino Monarch (or Ribbecke or Comins archtop), Sadowsky Jim Hall model, Rivera Jazz Suprema 15".

Hmm. Just one guitar and one amp? I haven't played one, but I think, based on reviews, a Carvin SH550 paired with an Egnator Tweaker might be rather versatile. Given no budget or time constraints, I'd change the Carvin to a Sadowski possibly, and I'd spend some time amp shopping.

My existing versatility setup isn't too bad for a budget: Squier VM Tele, Ibanez Artcore, PRS Custom Semi into a 1x15 180W Polytone, with a Vox AD30VT run through it if tube tones are necessary. Effects: Line 6 M13. I can't think of any style that this collection won't do, in just about any venue.

I live in Houston also and these players are incredible guitarists!! The Schaefer through a Clarus/Raezer's edge is a wonderful sound.

as for my dream setup...it would be a Gibson GA50 amp and an ES-175. I really dig that 50's jazz guitar tone.
