Default Roland Micro-Cube opinions...

....and experiences?
I did search the site but info is limited and opinions all over the place.
I've been looking for an amp to carry easily with me when traveling with work and visiting relatives. I like my amp just fine, but it's proving to be too bulky to carry around easily.
A used Micro-Cube came up locally for $45 and I'm thinking about it.
Is $45 a cheap price for these used? (seems like it)
and
Is it capable of warm traditional jazz tones at bedroom volumes?
Thanks!

They normally sell for $125 new. So if the amp works, and your main objective is portability and used mainly at bedroom volumes, I would buy it. I've mainly seen good reviews plus at $45, you will be hard press to find something else as good (I think).

I've only used my MC with a Strat and it's very good for that. I bought mine new and it comes with a wall wart adapter (FYI). I found it much easier to get the Strat sounds I wanted compared to the VOX counterpart. I would imagine it would get you close to the jazz tone you are after.

The answer is a qualified 'yes'.
I have one and at low volume it actually sounds rather nice with an archtop (on the clean channel). It does 'flap' a little on the low notes. Changing to the 'Black Panel' setting improves the flapping but it isn't quite so warm (it's not a distorted sound though). There are quite a few owners here - somebody here told me to use the BP setting.
I use mine with rechargeable batteries (I'd invest in a set of these as it's life on batteries isn't great) and take it all over the house and garden. Just don't expect too much bass.
At $45 it sounds like a bit of a no brainer. I spend more on beers for the wife on a night out.

Phil

Cool, thanks for the input guys!
I'm going to go pick it up after work today. Sounds like a good solution.
