Default Epiphone Introduces The ES-339

Summer NAMM 2011: Epiphone launches the ES-339 | MusicRadar.com

No word on cost yet, but based on the European pricing, I'm betting on $499.
Standard with the new probucker pickups and wired for coil splitting.

An Ultra III version ads a Nanomag pickup also.

Interesting... mostly because the article states Summer NAMM 2011 even though Epiphone was not an exhibitor. I was there and would have enjoyed trying out the Epi 339.

Cheers,
Steve

Wow, that's cheap enough to mod. A Lollar P-90 in the neck position would be way cool.

Thanks for this post. I think I might be there on a black one and would be tempted to pull out the tortoise cover HCC-1's currently in my Samick JZ 123 and put them in the 339. And sell the DOT I don't play any more because the body is a bit big for my comfort.

I've heard a little about those neomag pickups. They might work well in a jazz guitar.

I tried out an Epi LP traditional pro that has the probucker pickups with split coil.
Easily the best sounding Epi pickups I've played this side of an old USA Epi. Big improvement over the older version.

I read on MF that they're supposed to ship mid December. There are 2 versions of this guitar.

The regular 339 going for 499.00 if I remember and the 339 Deluxe? or something like that for 799.00

I wish they would make one in a 7 string model.

Interesting. I like the 339 size...it's more comfortable for me to play. But the Ibanez AM models seem like better bangs for the buck IMHO at a similar size.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between that, and say a Dot or Sheraton?

It's just a baby semi-hollow, that's not grown up yet.

The body is a lot smaller. I think the body width is about 14" across, while the 335/Dot is 16".
Gibson's been making the 339 for a while now, and a lot of people have been waiting for Epiphone to make their cheaper version.

Ah, now that I look at the pic a little more closely it does look like a baby Dot.
