CpThornton Improv Anxiety The countdown has begun to finally getting my hands on the newest CpThornton creation, the Improv. I got to see & fondle this new jazzbox about a month ago when it was in the early assembly stage. The frets & deluxe inlays had such a grand feel on that mahogany neck, despite the lack of strings. First time I've ever seen a guitar just before the top went on - he was just completing final tone-tapping. Oh, those structural innovations INSIDE the body - much easier to see than peering thru f-holes later.
I am still exhilirated that one of the first 5 is mine. This week he painted it & ordered the gold hardware & single neck pickup. Vintage sunburst shades should be appearing in my dreams any day now. My D'Angelico NYL-2 has been sold, which was virtually the same size & specs as the Improv. Although I have a CpT Jazz Elite, I am now without a real hollowbody jazzer in my life for the first time in 8 years, & I'm having alternating bouts of loss & elation as the dreaded wait begins. I'm just waiting on a flash airfare bargain, & I'll likely grab it & do a day trip to Maine & check it out again.
Come on, Chuck; come on Chuck. Make my day.
Anyone else heard or read much about them other than what's posted on his website? It will certainly be the most elegant guitar I've ever owned or played. |
