| | Nice axe indeed - even though the seller calls it a Gretsch in the text.
Is the pickguard original? If I remember right, the big "E" first appeared on pickguards after Gibson had taken over. Not that it's a problem. A 60 years old celluid pickguard might well have been in an advanced state of self destruction by now. And is the tuner buttons beginning to go the same way (the dark discoloration in spots)? Whatever, none of this should keep anyone from buying one of the best factury made arcoustic archtops of all times, if the price is right. |

| | J. Hale has a '53 Emperor Regent (18 1/2" - she's too fat for me) for $7.500. Wonder what this little one will finally go for. |

| | Nice axe !!! FYI - The pickguard is probably orignal . The 1950 Epi. catalogue shows some models with the E on the guard . By 53 - 54 , mostly all models had the E . |

| | yeah you know it is really tempting to bid on it haha. 5 days left on the auction it'll be funny to see how it develops considering that once the collectors see that up there they'll probably call their accountants or some shit.
then no one will ever play that great instrument ever again |

| | I have the same model guitar in blonde and it is an absolute cannon and I play it all the time. It has a DeArmond 1100 on it too. I was seriously tempted to bid on this ebay auction, but it would be kind of stupid to get that same guitar, twice. |

| | In all honesty, I actually DID buy this guitar twice.... Sold the burst last year...
There was noteable difference between the two, with the blonde much louder.
The one offered on ebay has rather wide grain, which in my experience would probably indicate it is a very loud and chunky guitar too. The burst looks very dark but I dont know if that means anything. Dealer prices for a TR are around 3500. I bet on ebay this one will stay much lower. It is a fantastic guitar. |

| | One day to go and just reached $ 1000 ? This could well end up to be the bargain of the century..... At any guitar dealer this would be a $ 3500+ guitar easily.... |

| | 27 bids coming into the home stretch and still under 2k. Anything much under $2500 is a good price IMO. Quote:
