| | Jazz Chorus 50 I've recently seen some classifieds for second hand JC 50.
Any opinion? Is it a good candidate for classic jazz tone? |

| | If I recall, there was a JC55 with 50 watts and 2 8" speakers. Don't think I ever heard one though. There was also a JC77 with 2 10's (75 watts?). And, of course, there's still the JC120. Sorry, I guess that's not much help! |

| | Wait - apparently there was a JC-50. Here's the Owner's Manual from the RolandUS Website. I don't know anything else about it, though. |

| | Here's some of the JC family:
(The captions don't line up.)
The JC-50 is 1x12. Some people say that the chorus sounds better on amps with multiple speakers. I don't know if it's worth going for an old JC versus getting a newer Roland Cube. |

| | My gutiar teacher uses a JC50 for practice and it sounds REALLY sweet. As a matter of fact, we were talking about it last week, and he said he'd love to get another one, but can't find any. |

| | Also, I believe the JC-60 is similar to the 50. |

| | Thanks to all of you for your inputs and links.
As far as I can see, a big missing feature for me is a lack of Mid setting knob, which I usually like to play with to fine tune my tone. |

| | Hi all
My first post on here - just thought I'd say 'hello' and chip in with my pennyworth on the JC50.
I owned one for 3-4 years and found it too 'narrow' (?) for a good jazz sound - but sweet clean little amp though. I did put a couple of 1/4" jacks on the back to plug in two old Jensen 12" speakers (switched to cut out the internal 8" ones) but it was a dopey idea really! My friend has it still, but having a Polytone doesn't use it much.

| | I've got a JC-60. It's pretty good.
It has only one speaker, and I agree: spreading the chorus between two speakers (like the JC120) seems to be a little sweeter--although the JC60 chorus is not bad at all. In fact, it's still quite good. Especially if you rarely use it, like me.
The amp can be a little hissy, but all the JCs I have played can be like that.
This JC-60 does have a Middle tone control (unlike the JC-50, fwiw). And a weak "Distortion" knob--not much use.
I've got a little Micro Cube, the little modeling amp, and the straight JC60 sounds better to me, though not by much. Fuller, richer, more gravitas. (I could be listening with my eyes, though. I do that a lot. ;-) It's hard for the little Cube to make room for digital effects and amp models and still compete with its big cabinet brother. The bigger Cubes might do better in a match up.
I'm trying to get it together to sell the JC60 and my Mesa Boogie Studio 22 and try to get a Carr. But I've had both amps for over 20 years and find it hard to let them go though.
