Help ES-125 Dynasonic pickup

Hello,

I am wondering if anyone knows if a Dynasonic will fit in the neck position of a Gibson ES125 (perhaps with some minor routing) or if there is any other way of getting a dyna like sound, maybe with a pickup that has the same characteristics but different cosmetics. I have heard that a dynasonic will be too tall (the neck sits pretty low on a ES125) maybe there is another way or mounting the pickup so that it will sit lower? Thanks in advance

I would be surprised if it did.
ES125 is an odd beast (or for me it is).
My PU cover is about 8/32 above the top on the neck end and 12/32 on the bridge side.

From a couple of different ebay sellers the dynasonic sits 16/32 above the top so I think it might be tight.

GFS has a relatively new pickup called the Surf-90. It is a single coil in humbucker size that supposedly comes close to the Dynasonic. Maybe it would work in the right guitar. Its very inexpensive.

Yeah this one: Surf 90 Black/Chrome Neck Position Looks cool, and people are pretty positive about the sound

I've send them an email to ask how high the PU will sit on the body

I totally respect your right to do whatever you want with your own gear, but I'd hate to see you make a mistake you can't undo, so here's my 2 cents worth... I hope you'll take it in the friendly spirit in which it's offered from a fellow ES125 owner.

Altering the body of an old Gibson to replace a vintage P90 with a cheap $35 pickup is something you're likely to regret. As soon as you cut that hole the 125 will be worth half of what it is now and you can't undo that. I'm not trying to rain on your parade, but if the 125 isn't the guitar you want, you might be better off in the long run to sell it and buy something that works better for what you want to do.

If you really need to swap out the pup, at least find something a little nicer than GFS that fits and keep all your old parts. Somebody gave me a GFS pickup a while back (not that model) and I ended up giving it to somebody else.

Yeah your right, although it really sounds like it's a good pickup, I won't do it. I wish there was a way to try out PU's without changing the body, or a dynasonic that retrofits with these strange P90's that we have.
