Default FS: One of a kind '67 ES-175

This is a factory original, one of a kind ES-175 Special, made as a presentation instrument for then President of the American Guild of Music.
The body is standard fare for an ES-175 of this period. Maple body, and laminated maple top. Bindings on the body are the same as you'd find on a standard 175 from his era. The neck is of Byrdland scale and dimension (23.5" scale). The neck appointments are also similar to a Byrdland or L5, BUT..the neck is mahogany. Weird. Anyway. This also has an L5 tail piece with a wood and plastic inlay engraved "Custom Made". The case is a crazy clean Lifton, with the keys in the envelope. Why is the case so clean? Well...it comes with the factory case cover. The guitar is a solid 9 out of 10. It really is that spectacular. The only issue, is that there are extra holes in the tailblock under the tailpiece. Looks like someone Bigsby'd this at one time, and for once, it wasn't me. Forum price is $5500 plus shipping. Email me for more pics.

Very interesting guitar. Definitely more guitar that my talents are worthy, but I am curious... what is the nut width?

Cheers,
Steve

Oh yeah!! What a fantastic axe. I'm drooling all over the computer keyboard now. The price is not bad either. At first I thought it was an L4CES but not with those appointments and not with a laminated top. It also looks like the pickups are close together like an ES350 was. I also want to know what the nut width is compared to the Byrdland. The scale of the Byrdland was nice for me but the nut width was just too narrow. I just wish I could afford it now. I'm in the middle of paying for a new kitchen which if my wife doesn't get, I don't eat. I also want to go to sleep in my room and not in the shed. Too much rain outside. Too bad you didn't catch me about 6 weeks ago.

At first I thought you typed an error when you said the neck is 23.5" scale length. It turns out to be correct, for a Byrdland.

Yeah, that scale length is either a deal breaker or a deal maker.

Its the 1 9/16" nut. Not for everybody. But I like it. (I just need to let this go because I found another early Byrdland) :-)

Bumping for a lowered price. Will also do trades for blonde Gibsons, Standel tube amps, or anything pre-57 with a factory Bigsby on it. Or anything with a Bigsby pickup. Or, you know, any thing old and cool.

The short scaled ES350T that is, the one with the Byrdland scale. That's because of the short scale -the bridge is closer to the neck, leaving less room for PU spacing.

Nice axe, but I don't like the "buy this weekend or else" price tactic.

I need cash for an amp, and I have the weekend to get it. Its that simple. Would you prefer that I leave it priced @ $5500?

Fair enough that you need cash. It's just that the guitar may be hard to sell for 5500 next week when people can see it had been offered for 2 grand less this week. When I bought my house 20 years ago, I told the seller, that his price was higher than I was prepared to pay. That put him off and he responded by raising the price and telling me he certainly wasn't in any need of money. I said OK, I didn't need to move right now and had plenty of time to find another house. A few months later his real estate agent called me, and we negotiated a deal just a symbolic bit over my initial offer.

It's a beautiful guitar & I keep coming back to this thread to look at it. If I had the cash it would be mine already!
I hope you get exactly what you want for it.

Whilst I appreciate your sentiment, I don't see a corollary here. I'm lowering the price for a limited time. Its like a weekend sale. People do it all the time. Newspapers are full of circulars stating such, and people rarely get up in arms when the prices return. I won't be jacking the price up out of spite, as it sounds like your previous house owner did. It'll just go back to where it was, or slightly less, but not this low (unless another Standel 25L15 is offered to me). I would like to make a quick sale to free up some cash. As the old saying goes, with a slight variation: If you don't like how I'm selling my ES175 with a Byrdland neck and L-5 appointments, you are free to find another one.

Thanks. In light of the last few comments, I find this very kind of you to say.
