well, are you talking about the evans combo, or head only, and if head only, what cab, the RE is typically just a cab, so what head would you use with that AI, evans, polytone, that all makes a difference?? I don't think you can compare a bare cab with a combo, need more info.

I'm a long time evans guy (RE200), great size, power & portability. I actually A/B'ed that with a friends AI/RE combo (2x8), I thought they both sounded good, but I thought the evans sounded warmer to me, less SS like.

Good info. Thanks for the comment even if it wasn't helpful to Jack, I am sure it will be helpful to others. It was helpful to me. I might just look into an Evans.

Cheers,
Steve

I also have an evans amp (JE200) I agree that it's more tube-like than AI or henriksen or the jazzcat. I wouldn't call it warmer though. If anything, I would say it's got the bright, compressed high freq (4.5k) bump you get from a good tube amp. The preamp is what makes the diff IMO...

Anyway, anyone got an evans or RE S12 cab ?

Your comment was helpful to me too, so thanks, riovine (although it is Jack's thread).
