Greetings... I've been following this forum and others on this site for a couple years, and intending to sign up. I thought I'd chime in on the Kopp guitars, because I played one, briefly, a couple weeks ago at a music store in Sandusky, Ohio, which is near where Kopp lives. I played the "Betty Swing." It seemed well made. It was setup with flatwounds (maybe 12s? not any heavier, I don't think) and I couldn't find any fret buzzes or "wolf" notes. I played it acoustically, because I was curious how a solid top archtop with a floating pickup would sound unamplified, and I figured any buzzing or other issues would be more noticeable. The finish seemed clean and nothing in the general fit and finish or setup appeared sloppy. The intonation was spot on to my ears--better than I can get my Ibanez AK95 sounding. The action was smooth and low and it was easy to fret chords up and down the neck. I'm not an expert and am probably less discriminating than many on this forum, but I figured since I've played one, albeit briefly, I might as well comment.
He's a young builder and maybe his reputation will grow. So maybe the first post is spam or maybe not, but the Kopp guitar I played was well made.
Take care,
