.... or a Peterson StroboFlip (or any of the Peterson electronic "strobo" tuners for that matter). They are more expensive, but also 10 times more accurate than the usual tuners. I ended up with one after having tried several ordinary tuners which I found too inaccurate.

When I was young, I tuned aurally, but my ears are not what they were, and I have difficulties hearing the tuning of the low E-string well, so a good tuner is a great help for me.

The Peterson StroboClip is absurdly accurate. The clip is a little bulky, but the tuner is the best clip-on I have ever tried by far.

tried loads of clip on tuners the Snark ones are really cheap and suprisingly accurate. obviuosly not peterson, but what is. the problem i find with many clip on is the interference and cross talk from other sound sources, especially from PA's or drummers. the Snark is the most resillient i've found-and very accurate.......

+1 for the Snark. Besides the accuracy, the clip is very gentle on the nitro finish.

Does the Snark take long 'thinking' after you strike a note ?

My intellitune does and then you've only got about two seconds before
it drops out and you've got to pick again !

not velly good

Nope. Responds immediately and stays for a long time... I'm still surprised every time I use it.

Snark is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating, but they're an excellent tuner.

Guys, who wants to have some shitty gadget stuck
onto the headstock of your prized possession?
So naff!.......Yeah, I like to be in tune......we managed
fine before these things came along.
Shallow I know ... but one must have standards.

You know, these tuners can be removed when done with the tuning.

A+ for the Snark, too...
I bought two (one for a friend...); we are both satisfied. Very inexpensive, responds well, stays on the note easily long enough. The '1' model has no mic (so is not disturbed by parasite noises, but cannot tune except by vibration...), the '2' model has selectable mic for tuning acoustically.
I got them upon recommendation here, and was not disappointed.
Hope this helps.
(Yes, I take it off after tune-up...)

+1 for Peterson tuners. That said, several people I've lent mine to have had trouble with the strobe effect. I think however, it's worth getting used to because of the accuracy. It's the first electronic tuner I've used that didn't require me to "sweeten" the tuning after matching the tuner in order to match my ear. That is for both the StroboClip and StroboFlip.

AROMA MUSIC-AMT-570B

I have one of these - its a fine tuner but the best thing is the tuner is USB rechargable... bought a cheap USB portable charger and I can charge the tuner anywhere. Clip-on tuners always pissed me because the batteries seem to go away always on the important gigs! This way I can charge it anywhere.. its not the best tuner in the world but I just need to tune in beginning and between sets so it works very well for me.

Another Snark user here and they work great. I had a couple of "clip" turners years ago that wouldn't find the pitch or "wobbled", but the Snark is darn near perfect!!!!

Sonic Research Turbo Tuners are true strobe tuners (direct analog signal comparison / instant display - not digitally derived / digitally calculated display).

They are five times more precise than Peterson, 50 times more than most others.

I have the ST-200 and it is very nice for fine intonation adjustments and dead-on tuning for studio work. Fast and easy to see on stage.

There is simply no delay; if you play a riff the note names will change as fast as you can pick your guitar...

I dig Snark- I use it for guitar, bass, tuba, other guys have used mine for trumpet, double bass, etc. Always in tune and quickly.

The Snark is so cheap ($10), every guitarist should have one. I have two actually. Most importantly, they work well and are super convenient.

I have a similar tuner to the Snark its ok but now I seem to rely more on an I phone app App Store - Cleartune - Chromatic Tuner
Always with me and seem real quick and easy to use..
cost was around $4.00 and seems to work pretty well in noisy environments.
Time will tell but so far I am impressed.
