They say it was designed by a guy that used to work for another major amp builder and worked for Fender for a couple of years and brought some great designs :-) trw |

| | hi mate, buy a fender pro junior and up grade the speaker, then mod the circuit to clean it up a bit (brian wampler of wampler pedals did a mod sheet.) sounds beauty, but in stock form, a little harsh, though most of that is the speaker. |

| | Mesa Transatlantic TA15?
Rivera Venus 3 Top?
Swart AST II head?
Soldano Astroverb 16?
The Orange Tiny Terror is probably too agressive--i'm guessing--but tiny!.
If you have fat pockets for shipping, but a love of beauty, maybe an Emery Sound
Seems like most small tube heads are geared toward an overdriven tube sound. Those are the smallest / cleanest ones i can think of. |

| | I have been using for about one month a special 6 head.
Not a monster tone, but pretty nice to practise at home.
Very nice "fender blackface" style of clean sound.
3W, very clean sound.
I recommand it for sure, and even more regarding the price.

This video does demo a couple of clean settings: |

| | Mesa also just came out with a TA-30 head and combo. The fellow doing the demo gets some decent Geroge Harrison 60's Vox tones at 2:11 |

The TA15 is literally the size of a lunchbox though. Transatlantic with reverb is very enticing.

| | I've recently acquired a DIY Tweed Deluxe head ampkit from TAD and connected it to the internal 15" speaker of my Fender Jazz King. The Tweed head isn't exactly small but the tone is absolutely amazing and puts the Jazz King to shame. |

| | The Fender HR Deluxe, is a very nice versatile amp. I chose it because it would allow me to get a warmer tube sound than my larger blackface amps (my bassman is too punchy sounding, and the twin reverbs are so bright it is hard to dial back) but would have enough power to allow me to play some rock/blues with my solid body guitars. Just a suggestion if you are looking for something cheaper, and not a PtP wired tube amp. It is also a good starting point if you want to have something that works nicely for cheap that you can upgrade. |
