Default Fully Wound Set

For a while now I have been getting annoyed with how the plain e &b strings feel and the difference is sound they make compared to the rest of the strings.

Is there anyway of getting a fully wound set of strings?

The smallest wound string I remember seeing was maybe a nickel plated round wound .017 or .016 from GHS or D'Addario.

If you're ok with a .060+ gauge 6th string and don't mind tuning down a step or so, it may be doable.

The thinnest wound string I know is a .020w and that comes out of the D'Addario .010 set. I've got it strung up to be a B string and I'm lucky I haven't broken more of them. If you try to string it up to the E, I guarantee you, it'll snap at some point.

D'Addario wounds are available down to .017

Howard Roberts used a 16-60 set tuned to standard. But a wound 17 is going to have much more tension.

Seems like a guy I knew in school (100 yrs ago) used nylon tape wound strings. Here's a Labella set, but I don't know if these are the same or not:

Oh.. my brain isnt good..
I have seen them before.. I was in my Teens (so 20+ years ago) and thought they were a disaster.. I think they were made by thomastic or some other brand better known for violin strings. Seems to me they were golden but I cant be sure. They may have been silk core even... I will have to drink about it .

These I think are the kind of strings John Pizzarelli is using. I think they tend to sound a bit deader than flatwounds but it's definitely an option if you hate the feel of plain strings.

I THINK I have used those Labellas.. they were plain EB string.. the rest are black tapewound. Much brighter than you would expect.
