Default For Sale--1953 ES 175 and 1974 Howard Roberts Custom

will post pics tonight when get home--looking for local or regional sale (ie, will drive or meet you half way from Chicago).

1953 Gibson ES-175 $3k

-a players guitar, not necessarily a collectors--sounds outstanding, plays well. has been played a ton, so I got it re-fretted when acquired--has cosmetic dings and lacquer checking--in back and on neck. tailpiece not original, also put in a strap button. everything else is as it was--one P90.

1974 Gibson Howard Roberts Custom-- $2200
very pristine condition--pretty much stayed in previous owner's closet for like decades. Only issue involved pick guard (was faux pax tortoise shell plastic), which I replaced as it broke, and since it stayed in closet, Appwrently caused a cosmetic blue film to cover parts of pickup (floating HB), which was professionally removed with no damage or issues to pick up. other than new pick guard, all original, in amazing shape, plays very well.

Reason for selling--to pay some credit card bills and because I personally prefer playing my Ssadowsky Jim Hall.

Inquiries and pics? Please let me know. I think these are fair prices.

Ok, after a morning drive up 294/94/43, Howard has officially left the building and he ain't coming back Or, in the mortal words of Hawk Harelson, "he gone".

Originally, it was a six string "shootout at the ok corral between Howard Roberts and Jim Hall, and the guy who played incredibly as second fiddle in all those incredible 1960s RCA sides with Newk and that alto player with the sonority of a flute won, hands down and staved off permanent exile. In fact, Jim looks like a keeper. for life

But, second thoughts suddenly taking primary consideration, maybe Jim should have a plywood backup, that would remain here, in its case--just in case.

Maybe I'll keep the 175, after all. It's kind of been like the Energizer Bunny of guitars.

Default The Oval Hole reference brought back memories !

I thought an album photo of HR was so cool I had an artist friend paint a likeness which I still have on a wall !
Speaking of HR, has anyone ever seen a tab for his version of 'Winchester Cathedral' ? I think the album is 'Jaunty Jolly'.
Now I know I'm dating myself.
Dennis
