If only I weren't getting married this year . . . sigh. You don't know much cash I'll be dishing out on other people's dinners, flowers, photographers, etc.; none of which are nearly as interesting as your guitar (fortunately, my lovely fiancee is worth every penny).

Default nice instrument

Jack, that is a beautiful guitar and has good jazz tone. I went to your website and listened to your music -- all very nice with excellent feel & technique. I especially liked your version of "Darn That Dream". Thanks for the link, it is good sensistive music and I will be back to listen often.

Not in this case, unfortunately.

How would you compare the tone and/or playability of the Heritage against the Eastman El Rey?

Playability-wise, the 550 has better action. The el rey probably needs to have a fret level to get down to the super low action that the 550 has. Tonally, the H550 sounds a lot like Metheny's gibson 175 but with a little more air to it due to the longer scale and maple neck. The El Rey's tone is a bit thinner but more focused due to the thinner body. H550 has more sustain.

Both great guitars but kind of apples/oranges. The H550 is definitely more satisfying to play jazz stuff with but the el rey is a bit more versatile.
