Guitar Just bought a 7 string

Have been wanting a 7 string for a while but don't have the bread for a foster or Benedetto. Was surfing eBay a couple of weeks ago and in amongst the thousand or so death metal machines I came across a tobacco burst thinline with a Venetian cutaway. Turns out it was a samick hj700 "artist series". I'd heard of samick's Greg Bennett line of guitars but had never heard of the artist series and couldn't find anything on the Internet about it other than a brief reference in Wikipedia saying the artist series was from the 1990s and had a "good reputation" for quality. Something about the guitar didn't look right in the pictures - the pickups were completely black when the rest of the hardware was gold-plated. Hmmm, I thought, those don't look stock. I emailed the seller. Turns out he replaced the stock pups with Benedetto B7s. I bit, $800 on buy it now, including case and shipping. I've had the guitar for 2 weeks now and it is everything I've been looking for. I think you could put those pickups on anything and you'd get jazz tone heaven. I play through an Evans je 150 I found on eBay 4 months ago and this combination has that jazz tone ive been looking for ever since I started playing/listening to jazz. Just goes to show there are some amazing finds on eBay. Don't know if 800 is overpriced for this guitar, but considering the Benedetto pups sell for more than 150 each, and considering the prices of the alternative guitars, which are way out of my range, I feel like I got my money's worth. Don't know if anyone out there has any more information about the samick artist series, but if you do would love to hear from you.

Cheers!

Congrats. Based on how thrilled you are, I don't think $800 is too much... in fact it's a steal!
btw... would love to see some pics.

Cheers, Ron
