Default custom building a guitar

just a quickie, never made changes to a stock guitar and wondering the ups and downs of it. i like the shape and size of the washburn h15, but wondering if it would be worth gutting and rebuilding one. i know its pressed ply but still like the florentine cutaway, shorter scale and body width. thanks

ps i'd also like to try and do it all myself, very handy with the hands...

If you understand the basics of how pickups, pots, etc work and can solder, changing the 'guts' should be ok. If you mean re-shaping the body/neck, etc., then that requires more skill than the average handyman possesses. If you are still determined, get a couple of books to refer to (search on Amazon,) and good luck.
