| | Peavey Classic 30 . . . . So
There's a used Peavey Classic 30 (one of the newer models) down at my music shop for $350. It looks to be in pretty decent condition.
Initially, I was going to save up for a Classic 50 2x12, but this deal is tempting.
Waddaya think?
The only thing I am concerned with is the projection of the Classic 30. |

| | It's loud for a 30Watt amp. Mine was the older model, some of which sounded better than others. Did you try it out? |

| | Yeah, I have always been concerned about how loud it can get. I was able to max out my DRRI yesterday in terms of volume; it sounded great but I want louder.
I would have tried the amp today, but the music store was pretty full and loud. I wish they had a classic 50 used because I wouldn't even think twice about buying it. |

| | Is this for jazz playing? More than enough juice for that. |

| | Hi silence it depends where you are playing,my mate had one of these and i would say it was plenty loud enough for pub use even for rock,as were on a jazz forum i assume you want it for jazz and i would say it is easily loud enough.for bigger gigs you would normally mike up anyway.I liked this amp as your able to drive the valves enough to get them to sound great.I allways find it odd when i see pub rockers with 100w marshalls on about number four.Just my view. |

| | There is probably a good chance I will use it for Jazz, but I am mainly trying to get an amp with a Distortion channel for more fusion rock stuff. I like that it has an efx loop; I have been dying to test out my boss GT10 through one.
I know, maybe this might be the wrong forum for asking about good rock amplifiers, but you guys always give me the greatest contributions on all of my questions. Plus, we're guitar players; we have all rocked out at one point.
After reading up some more, it seems like 50 watts is the most ideal in terms of headroom and cutting through.
Whatever amp I purchase I will be sure to post pictures. |

| | Fair enough but if you are insistant on getting the 50w model you will have to change your name from silence to something a bit louder as well.Good luck and dont rush into anything shop around and try to get the shops to play off against each other to get a good price.Peace. |

| | I have owned both these amps and in fact traded in the 50 for the 30.
The Classic 50 2 x 12 really seemed underpowered for a 50watt amp and was always a disappointment. Tonally it was OK but not killer.
By comparison, the 30 seemed no less loud, was more "focussed", and was a lot lighter to carry around. Didn't regret the change for a moment. |

The only thing I am concerned with is the projection of the Classic 30. | Hello,
For the money, the Classic 30 is a nice amp, and $350 is about what they go for on ebay (in decent shape). For around $400 on Ebay, you might consider a Delta blues, as they would offer a bit more projection with the 15" (or 2-10") configurations (not that I don't think a Classic 30 is enough amp for jazz or rock in a small to medium club). I've had both, and still have the Delta blues. Two thumbs up for either one! |

| | So . . . . . Instead of getting a peavey classic 30, I went up a notch (or ten) and purchased a classic 50 head off of eBay.

| | The classic 30 for $350 is an easy buy. At that price you could buy it, use it for a few years and then sell it for the same price if not a profit. | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
