Guitar Vincent Gallo Guitar

Hey guys,

I've been trying to figure out what guitar Vincent Gallo is playing in this image.
First thought I had, was that it could be a Gibson ES-125, but there seems to be no volume/tone controls on his guitar, looks more like an all acoustic.

You guys seem to know your guitars and I'm fairly new to the world of jazz guitars.

Any suggestions?

Definitely looks like an old harmony, maybe a monterrey.

The silvertone in another thread appears to have the same tailpiece. Definitely not a Gibson.

That's awesome, I'd love one like that.

I'm still trying to choose which archtop to start with. I'm leaning towards an affordable first semi-electric archtop, like the Washburn hb15. I've only read positive things about them.

I was leaning towards a Godin 5th Avenue but it wasn't electric, and the Kingpin is a little over my budget atm. Plus, I like starting out simple, to have awesome gear to look forward to.

Do you guys think I'm doing a good choice with the Washburn hb15? Any other suggestions?

Washburn looks cool, never seen it. The Godin is nice, though i split with this group a bit and like the Gretsch G100 more. I think it has a snappier tone and the neck plays wonderfully. They have a cutaway pickup version if it as well. If you are in a big-ish city, don't count out the solid pressed tops from the 50's & 60's on craigslist. Harmonys and Silvertones sound great if they don't need a neck reset. The Gretsch gets close to the sound and only "wins" because it is in better shape.

The Loars have decent reviews as well and you could get a LH-350 for around $500 or an LH-300 for $450 and add your own pickup, even less used.

Honestly i've found there is nearly no correlation between how much i paid for something and how much i love playing it.

1. Check craigslist
2. try the Gretsch and Godin at a store
3. Order a Loar to try from an online store and return it if you don't love it.
