This Guild X-150 recently sold (not by me), but I see both 1 and 2 pup X-150s now and then on CL or the 'bay in the $1100-1300 range, a great value for a well made instrument. They're the same size and scale as a 175 and the pickups are good as is. I have a blond single-pup made in Corona California, and it's a fine Jazz instrument.

The new Eastman AR-403 seems to me to be similar to the Jim Hall. In the US, I think the list price is under $1000. Might be worth a look if you can find one near you.

I played the Sadowsky Jim Hall and the Benedetto Bravo, looking for the right fit, and ended up with a Phillips Nouveau 16, the very best jazz guitar I had ever owned in 45 years of playing (L5, 175, Ibanez, Yamaha, L7, etc, etc.). The Phillips was made in the Samick factory, and still is the very best value I've ever seen for a Jim Hall-type instrument, and it was $700.00, brand new! Unfortunately, there are no more available from Phillips, but I'm toying with selling mine, since I have pretty much gone to 7-strings exclusively. Anyway, it would be worth seeking one out on the used market.

Peerless Monarch with the routed/set humbucker from Lou over at Guitarsnjazz.com Its a working mans L5 and definately in your price range. Its a fantastic instrument. I have one and absolutely love it. Lou actually sold me the Monarch with the routed/set humbucker when I was willing to spend more! Great guitar and Lou is a fantastic cat to deal with.

Hej Einar

It is not uncommaon that posts begin to live their own lives, regardless of the posters best intentions. I am curious, how in fact did this end for you? Have you actually purchased a new jazz box, or have you put the enterprise on hold?
