Ilike the 15. With a name like wholetone, gotta be marketed to us, huh?

A little heavy though-- my polytone mb III has more juice and is 6 lbs. Lighter. but if they can make this an inexpensive amp, I say it would be a welcome addition to the jazz amp market.

I have been trying to look over there site to see who is the target market is but no. doughnuts.

If it's inexpensive Kudus indeed to Ibanez, personally am hoping they price it around £300 ~ $430

Looks cool, especially that 15" speaker. Wonder what the street price will be? Makes sense that they would get something like this out to match up with the Artcores.

Here is a siting of this amp with a price tag of 359euro (included german vat19%)

http://www.musik-schmidt.de/Ibanez-WT80.html

It seems to be just a tad more expensive than the Roland Cube 80XL on the same site.

Now, if only there would be some youtube demonstrations.

About £308 in the UK. Price wise it's standing up for a purchase can't wait for a youtube video of this.

I wonder how much headroom this guy has?

A nice sounding amp. It's obvious now who the market is. Thanks for hipping me to it; that will go good with my Ibanez jazz box.

It reminds me of my Polytone 1x15" bass amp. If I didn't have it, I'd really be wanting this thing.

hmmm, I'm looking for an amp to run in stereo with my tube amp.
So far I've been looking at different polytones and stuff, but at this price I would love to hear a comparison between it and the polytones, henriksen etc.

Has anyone played one yet?

It looks and sounds terrific to me, and I love the price. For a jazz player surely a very tempting alternative to a Roland Cube. Damn it I want one now!

I will be having this in as soon as it's available. AFAIK it's not been delivered to the UK yet so I'm not sure where DV247 have got their info!

I'll do a special price for you guys

I played through a Fender '75' once in a shop
1 x 15" EV speaker , sounded fan bloodey tastic for clean stuff
huge and warm but shiney enough too
couldn't afford it or pick it up ! (it was a substatially built valve amp)
ender up buying a Fender '30' which was pick up able but
never did have the omph and authority

So the Ibz looks like it could be good
I wonder what speaker its got in it ?
putting a Neo (ie very light) 15" good quality speaker
would be quite interesting .......

getting ahead of myself now
I haven't tried one yet !

I'm really interested to see how this takes off as at first sight it seems like a cheaper version of the Fender JazzKing. (I think my JazzKing may have been the last one to be sold at Foulds-sniff) For anyone that hasn't played through an amp with a 15" speaker you are missing out on one hell of a trick. At the price of the Ibanez and with a 15" speaker you would have to be nuts to buy a similarly priced Cube. Looking forward to trying one.

At the :09 second mark in the video, the screen title says "Ibanez Whole Tone WT80 Jazz Amplifier." So I guess like paynow said, the target market is pretty clearly jazzbos.

I gotta give Ibanez credit for going straight at the jazz market! It can't be the largest or most lucrative demographic.

I think the Roland Cubes are great too, and tremendous bang-per-buck value. I've got an awesome MicroCube (and a Jazz Chorus JC60). But the Microcube has so much I could do without--the super heavy metal distortion stuff, etc. I have to wonder how good Roland could make a Cube if I didn't have to pay for the development of amp models I don't really use and they just focused on making a great jazz tone.

I look forward to hearing more about the WT80. I'd love to hear it compared to a Polytone or Henriksen.

Hi, that Jazzking was the best dedicated jazz gtr amp we've had...but probably the heaviest too!

sounds a little nasally like some of the GK amps. I guess it'll be good for the price. Too bad they couldn't have put it in a birch ply cab.

Just ordered the Ibanez WT80 amp for $470 Canadian as well as the Ibanez PM35 Pat Metheny Signature hollow body guitar (switching from my Custom Les Paul):

Ibanez.com | Hollow Body Guitars | PM35

I'm really hopping for a great 'combined' jazz tone!

No activity on this thread lately. So... has anybody managed to try one of these Wholetone amps out yet? (And possibly comparing it to AI, Evans, Polytone, Hendricksen, etc.)

TIA.
