Guitar What Archtop Is This?

Does anyone know what archtop model this is?
It looks like my ideal guitar if it had a fully wooden bridge.

Somebody will correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that's called a LeGrand?

Gibson Le Grande Archtop L-5 Johnny Smith Jazz Guitar, I see some just called Le Grande. Production started in '93.

That's definitely the Le Grande. They can't call it a Johnny Smith anymore because he pulled his endorsement from Gibson. They still wanted to make the guitar so they renamed it. For all intensive purposes, it's a Johnny Smith. It's a great guitar. It was originally designed from Johnny's D'Angelico Excel Special.

9 to 10 grand: Buy Gibson Custom Le Grande Electric Guitar | Semi-Hollow and Hollow Body Electric Guitars | Musician's Friend

Look at it this way: much cheaper than a trophy wife!

Sunburst like shown should cost less than $10K. Natural finish will cost the most.

Descendant of the Johnny Smith, except fancier. Like the Johnny Smith it has a 17-inch lower bout and 3-inch body depth. But it also has a 25.5 scale length, which makes it different than a Johnny Smith. Gibson doesn’t make a 25" scale length on any of its guitars now as far as I know.

It’s a damn good guitar though.

Doesn't Gibson always have a $10,000 guitar in their catalog. I remember when I worked in a music store I would drool over one. I think it was a $10,000 Citation.

You need some upgrades:

Some listed prices from Gibson website:

Wes Montgomery L5 CES: 11056$
Super 400 CES: 17300$
Citation: 33059$

Crisis, what crisis?

For that price it had better be hand carved from dinosaur bones, blessed by angels, finished by phoenix tears, strung with lion whiskers, and double as a jet-pack.

Ugh, the real bummer is that I'd have to get one for the beach house too. Oh well, guess I'll have to forgo the golden steering wheel for my yacht.

I think the Super 400 sells fro $12000. Used is almost half that. Gibson only makes a handful of these models. The Citation is the rarest

But for 20K , which is probably what the selling price on the Citation would be, I can think of 5 other luthiers who I would go to first before I even considered the Gibson

the last couple of posts make sense, to me at least.

take 30-35% off list to calculate sales price.

compare these guitars and prices to Monteleone, Benedetto, Buscarino, Greenfield, etc, etc.

Gibson is cheaper. and that's probably about fair.

(one possible exception - the Gibson Citation. it has expensive gold and abalone on it. is that where you want to spend your luthier dollars? i say, go for the Benedetto Cremona!)
