Default Stability of Xavier and Agile guitars

So, I'm considering another guitar purchase, just a cheap solid or semi-hollow to kick around, something to use as a backup, or to take to gigs when the weather is to cold and dry or hot and humid for my archtops to leave the house.

I'm told that both Agile and Xavier guitars are great guitars for the money. My main concern is that many inexpensive guitars tend to be less stable, and I have no interest in an instrument which needs constant adjustment or maintenance.

Firs off, what are your preferences between Agile and Xavier, and what are your impressions of their stability? Any other suggestions for decent guitars which are real cheap? How does Squier compare these days?

I can't comment on Agile and Xavier, but I can comment on Squier. I have a Squier Telecaster Custom II w/P90s, and imo it's one of the best deals out there for any guitar in its price range ($250). I've played the Squier 50s Classic Vibe Strat and it's a wonderful guitar -- felt great, looked great, sounded great. Also, I've played several Squier Affinity Strats and a couple of Squier Bullet Strats (all student-owned) and I'm impressed.

As far as Squier semi-hollow bodies go, I think the only option is the Telecaster Thinline. I've read solid reviews of them, but haven't had a chance to put my hands on one yet.

Have you considered Epiphone for semi-hollow? The Epi Dot and Faded Dot Studio are at great prices. I have an Epiphone Sheraton II that is just a knock-out!

I can second the Squier line as a good, inexpensive guitar. I've had a Squier Bullet for a couple of years that I put some Seymour Duncan pickups in, and it is a very good guitar - neck is excellent and it sounds great. Next one is going to be a Squier Tele Thinline for mopre jazz style playing.

Good afternoon, amusiathread, and Happy New Year...
I have had my Xaviere XV610 (tele thinline type...) for over a year, it is my daily 'go-to' guitar (I have others...), and still gives me entire satisfaction. Stable as a rock (the threads I read before purchase gave the impression that the tuners were not good; I've found them to be perfect, and all the more so that I don't have to touch them often...). I am also pleasantly surprised by the versatility of the 'Dream 180' pups, which give me a wide variety of tones, from almost Ricky or Gretch 'jangle' to soft 'PAF', depending on control settings. Confortable neck, nice balance; I even like the colour (bright yellow..!)
Can't rate it high enough, especially for the price (nearly new, 200€ delivered to my door, France, in hard case...).
Hope this helps...

I've never played the Xavier or the Agile though I know some folks who own them. They get really good reviews.
The Squier CV tele I tried out was pretty nice, although the pickups were not as twangy as I like in a tele. Still, not a bad piece.
