Interesting iphone4 apps

Hi guys,
found an app called "guitar toolkit" its a tuner, chord dictionary that shows intervals, fingering and notes. A metronome and will cover 6,7 and 12 string instruments. You can even create your own chords and it will suggest names for them, very handy well worth the small cost.

Have owned it for a few years. I use the metronome all the time.

If you are looking for just a tuner, i recommend the TC Electronic PolyTune. It is a virtual version of their pedal that allows you to just strum the open strings and tune them all at once. It also works well playing individual strings. I prefer that tuner over the Guitar Toolkit tuner, and it is free.

Both are essential!

GuitarToolkit and the PolyTune app are great. I use iStroboSoft as my tuner of choice.

Chordmaster is where I look up chords.
Scale Wizard is for scales, modes, arpeggios

Don't forget iReal Book for hundreds of standards. It also plays them as backing tracks now.

Four-Track (Sonoma Wire Works - FourTrack iPhone App) is a 4-track recording program that is great for making practice recordings. I use it with Blue Mikey (Amazon.com: Blue Microphones Mikey iPod Recording Microphone with Speaker: Musical Instruments) and the quality is surprisingly good.

The AmpliTube (AmpliTube for iPhone) also looks cool, although I haven't gotten it yet. It is an amp simulator with a 4-track recorder.

There really is no limit to what can be put on an iPhone or iPad. I don't see why someone could not show up for a gig with only a guitar, an input cord, and an iPad to feed into a speaker or PA system. If Apple ever comes up with a version of Garage Band for the iPad they will have THE killer music platform.

I got those. Absolutely LOVE the iRealbook, almost like a mini Band in a Box--can practice changes on standards anywhere. I use the Amplitube for practice with headphones--the tone is acceptable , but people Ive heard who actually gig with (mainly rock) complain about the lack of gain. no problem for me--I only use it with headphones to practice and I HATE playing loud, anywhere.

the 4 track I have but not really tried, as I have a good DAW at home.

I think, at minimum, the iRealbook is ESSENTIAL.
