Default New Guitar Day

I'm a rarity, in that I quite enjoy a 23.5" scale. I've posted some of my other ones. It took a while to find an early Byrdland, in natural, but I have to say it was worth the wait. I am loving this guitar, and just wanted to share my excitement with everyone here.

It's beautiful. Tell us a little more about it. How old? Where did you find it? I didn't know Gibson made a short, short scale.

Hello,
I can feel the excitement way over here---there's no holiday like "new guitar day"! I'm guessing she's a 1955-56 due to the Alnico 5 pickups. How's that baby sound?
PS: I'm a bit jealous!

Sounds amazing. I used to have an L-5 with Alnicos, and didn't like them, but they're really doing it for me on this one. Its a '57. I did some crazy horse-trading to get it. A friend of mine on the other side of the U.S. had it, and I pried it from his hands. MSR13: All Gibson Byrdlands have a 23.5" scale, as did all ES350Ts from the 50s and 60s. They were very popular with session guys in the late 50s, but fell out of favor. I have a one-off ES175 with this scale, and really do enjoy the feel, and the sound of the shorter scale. Anthony Wilson gets quite a sound from his....I don't have his chops, but I have aspirations.

It's a real beauty-it has that "lived in" vibe to it. It's paid it's dues. When you take that out at a gig you've already won the musicians in the crowd over. Beaut.

Sweet!!!!!

Never played a 23.5 scale but would like too. Must have a darker sound.

Congrats!

The spruce top of your Byrdland appears to have a very tight grain pattern (growth lines/inch)--testimony to the old days when old growth spruce wasn't quite so scarce. My Epiphone Byrdland isn't nearly as classy, but I do like it (along with the 23.5" scale). Cheers, Jeff

Guitar

Wow, what a PEACH!! Congrats, wish you well to play it.

"New Guitar Day" - love those.

Since I've given up on "New Girlfriend Day" as a result of having my one and only "New Wife Day" , and we're done with "New Child Days", being perfectly happy with the two we have, thanks, then the events I look forward to are:-

New Guitar Day
New Car Day (one coming up soon!! no more after that for a while)
New Golf Clubs Day (one recently, no more of those for a while either)

But New Guitar Days are great - revelling in the sheer wanton luxury of something as good as that, just for me..........wow.

No, actually I don't think that I have 'issues', thanks.

I've had some "reissues" (I couldn't afford the real thing).
