| | Egnater Tweaker amps Eganter Tweaker Combo 15
Has anyone ever tested this new little and affordable combo?
According to some reviews and users, it is supposed to have a great clean tone, maybe perfect for Jazz? |

| | I messed with one briefly and then the Rebel 20 head on a 112, and I liked the Rebel 20 a lot. I called Egnater and discussed what I was looking for and they also said the Rebel 20 with either a 112 or a 212 would be perfect for cleans.

| | (Old thread, I know, but the topic was not covered so)
Tried Tweaker combo 1x12 in a store recently. Nice nice cleans at quiet to moderate volume. Lots of flexibility and quite easy to dial in at the same time. I liked the sound much more than current tweed Deluxe and Mesa Transatlantic 15W which were all sitting side by side. The price is reasonable even if buying new and a used head could be had for $350. No reverb. Has a tube buffered series FX loop and I prefer a TC Hall Of Fame to spring reverb anyway.
Anybody else? |

| | I tried one recently and liked it. It does a good simulation of well know amps- Fender, Marshall, Vox, etc.....
It's worth it to take a second look at it before I make up my mind about the Super Champ I picked up. There's no verb but I would guess there are some decent pedals for that. |

| | I bought one a few weeks ago, I'll bring it to a rehearsal instead of my Superchamp XD to see if it fits the jazz gig. Unfortunately it lacks reverb, I'll miss that. |

| | I have the amp and cab and it sounds great. I use a Holy Grail Nano pedal for reverb and it seems to do the trick. |

| | I went into a GC about a year ago with a 15% coupon, a little mad money, and an intention of maybe picking up a nice pedal. I came out with a Tweaker 15 head. In my experience, the switches on a lot of amps and pedals that claim many tonal options don't make more than just subtle to imperceptible eq shifts. But each switch position on this amp makes a major difference in the sound. It is capable of a wide range of beautiful, quiet, clean tones, and the same with just a bit of edge. I am not as fond of the higher gain tones, but since I don't use them anyway, someone else will have to give a fair evaluation of those. It is not my favorite amp, but is fun and unique among my gear.

| | Got to try the Tweaker 15 at two rehearsals (coupled with a 1x12 cab fitted with an EVM12L), and I was pleasantly surprised.
It sounds a bit less refined than my Superchamp XD, but on the other hand the notes have more body, I feel like I can hear myself better, an the feeling I get makes me play better too (at least that's how I feel it
Next step is to try at a gig, that will be in early January, I'll get a reverb pedal in the meantime.
But so far that's a really cool use of this amp, which I bought more for blues at first. |

| | My experience with them is limited to some test sessions. Overall impression was jack of all trades, master of none.
I've heard a lot worse and, if you're not looking for a specific sound, they are good. If you're a diehard Fender/Vox/Marshall guy, it seems lacking.

| | I bought the Tweaker 40 combo a couple weeks ago and am really impressed with it. I've managed to get a very smooth warm clean tone. Seems like a very high quality amp for a decent price.
By the way, I was a die hard Fender fan and have played only through my DRRI. Now the Egnator has replace the DRRI. |

| | I yet have to put my hands on a Tweaker, but I can say a lot about the Rebel 20... wich i own (head) through a 1x12" cab in wich I replaced the speaker (an horrible Chinese thing) with a Jensen C12k of well known capacities...and it's a joy to play with! Both the Joe Pass and the CS 336 do their Jazz stuff perfectly well, while the Strato... well...that's another story, she really takes off.....
and better yet,you can use it both in gigs, and at home... | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
