I have one. The quality is excellent for the price. The pictures don't do it justice. High-gloss finish with 25.5" scale. It isn't in the same league with the Gitane, but then, it costs nearly $500 less. The case is fantastic. Overall, a great budget buy.

I know norman likes his, but if you can save up a little extra dough, the ciganos by gitane are a lot more "authentic" sounding. You really notice the shortcomings of a cheap gypsy style guitar when you play with someone who has one that's a little better, and you usually notice it because you can't be heard.

I've owned a cordoba, which was fine to get started--but now that I'm playing this music in front of people, my gitane john jorgenson model was a very wise investment. When I bought the JJ, I also played the Ciganos, which were great--but since I had the money and really wanted the long scale D hole, I went with the gitane--but make no mistake--the cigano D hole I played sounded about 95% as good as the more expensive gitane.

I haven't played a Cigano, but if they are comparable in quality to their higher-priced Gitane siblings, they could well be worth the price difference. My SX is my front-porch guitar, but I believe the addition of a pick-up would make it a decent gigging instrument. Tuners are solid and smooth. No buzzing, rattling, or other common plagues of cheaper instruments. The neck feels great. It is what it is, but there appears to be an emphasis on quality control, not always the case on Chinese guitars. Here are some pictures of mine:
