Default Korg question for Billkath

Can I remove the hard drive from a D1600 and put it in the D3200 and read the songs that are already on the drive?

I searched the studiotrax sight, but I couldn't find an answer.

Thanks

Depends-the 3200 has a USB partition, and there are slight changes to format, etc.. I'd back up to CD/R, and you can restore the CD on the 3200. Much safer.

Thanks for the quick reply. I kept my 1600 but a friend of mine is buying the 3200 was hoping you could just swap drives.

No-it's not as simple as that. But-you've got all your stuff backed up anyway, right?

I don't use my recorder much, but my friend has all his stuff backed up to computer.

How's the learning curve when going from the 1600 to the 3200? Big jump?

Do you see anything new coming from Korg concerning recorders?

Learning curve is easy-it's nearly the same, but you'll pick it up quickly. Any problems, you know where we are and you know everyone will be delighted to help with even the simplest questions.
As foir new stuff-my spies tell me that stand-alone multitrackers are not a priority for Korg. They've seen that computers are ruling the world these days, and that it is a very limited and highly competitive market, with a race to the bottom, price wise. Expect them to go upmarket, with stereo recorders in superhigh quality recording at 1 bit DSD. They're also doing a great stereo recorder that allows you to overdub as many times as you want. It records in broadcast wav format, and stores all the overdubs as well as individual tracks, allowing you to bring the whole lot into your computer DAW and mix and edit. Clever boys!!
Take a look-
