Default Thanks guys - got amp for my EASTMAN 805

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED ! - I have purchased an amp !

...and the winner is.....
a ROLAND Acoustic Chorus AC-60
like new, with case and user manual, only used at home a few times
for $275
??? IS THAT A GOOD DEAL ???

It just sort of, kind of,....fell from the sky into my lap
( I've read that all good gifts come from above )

I noticed it on my local craigslist and bought it the same day.

My thanks to DEREK who recommended a Roland
and especially STEVE Z who also suggested a Roland AC-60
and who was so kind to give me a 'guided tour' - that convinced me
an acoustic amp was the way for me to go.

I did not get to try all the other good suggestions made
because this Roland came along so quickly.

Thanks everyone for your help.

This Roland Acoustic chorus has good features-
reverb, chorus, anti-feedback and 2 channels.
It had mostly good reveiws that I read before I bought it.
Its small / lightweight but sounds good.

I've discovered I like some reverb on most songs and chorus on selected ones. It has plenty of power for my home use...nice to know I could use it in a small group setting if I ever wanted to and have a 2nd channel available for vocal.

I'm still tinkering with tweaking the controls.

Is it a good idea to turn the volume all the way up on the guitar
and then use the amp volume control to adjust to desired level ?

It seems I have to turn the amp volume past 1/2 way to get a good volume....and bass past 1/2 way to get a good bass tone.

- thanks again for everyone's help in this process

- Larry - now an electrified Nashville Cat.

It's a great, little amp. Great sounds and I bet sounds great with your Eastman. Congrats on the find.

Larry,

On the Eastman I would keep the volume all the way on. You could try to just roll the volume down a tad and see how you like that sound also, which on some guitars tends to break just a little bit of the brightness.

On the acoustic guitars, I usually have the volume set around 3/4 so I can add/delete volume as I see fit.

The difference in the two methods is due to the difference in the way the different pick up systems work... at least that's how I do things.

Cheers,
Steve
