Default Anyone know of a massive, downloadable resource of midis of the Real Book standards?

Hello...everybody!

I'm looking for a site that contains most (or even all...) of the songs found in Real Books. I'm not looking for the sheet music, but the tunes themselves, in midi or mp3 format.

I know of a couple places to find backing tracks but they lack the melodies, which I really feel like I need to hear when trying to learn these pieces.

Thank you very much!

Check This Out! Real book tunes

Hi FattMusiek, check out www.ralphpatt.com that will give you a lot of chord sheets plus backing tracks.Next I would select some of the more simple standards to learn first,You tube is a good free site to get most of the standards you will want for the time being,I would think that if you play the chords first and get them down then a chord melody. You should now be ready to improvise over the chords. Its all about practice and getting your fingers used to sounds. This should help with your other thread.

Hope this helps cheers Tom

I've got the Ralph Patz site in my bookmarks. It's a great site with excellent backing tracks. I need the melody in there so I can hear what I'm seeing on the sheets, and to become familiar with the tunes.

I use youtube often for this sort of thing. It's a great resource definitely. If you search "For Nobody Knows When You're Down and Out" though, it's almost all Eric Clapton's versions.

Thanks for the response...

This is one site:
THE SAXY PAGE

This is a better, but quirky behaving site: Real Book midi files

It's also nice to know that loading a midi file into a decent notation program will produce a chart of the tune that you can print out.

DUDES!!! Thanks a lot. I have been using more backing tracks recently and this is a great resource. Normally I just comp everything myself when learning a song or practicing, but recently I've been really wanting to focus on some new soloing ideas and I've needed a more full arrangement to really test the lines to see if they are delivering the right feel. This is useful.
