Hi,my name is jebsong1 and I'm glad to be a part of this forum. I am a finger style folk guitarist wanting to learn 30's jazz. I play a Collings SJ guitar and I'm thinking of getting a Collings AT16" archtop someday. Can anyone give me their openion of Collings archtops? Also I'm thinking of getting a Eastman archtop for a starter what do you think of these guitars?
Thanks, Jebsong1

Don't have either guitar, but the Eastman's almost universally get rave reviews. I'll probably check one out myself in a couple years when I save up some $$$.

Thanks. <blush> That's pretty old stuff. Kind of off on a completely different tangent now.

What exactly are you meaning by "30s jazz" - standards?

Tried out the Eastman AR880CE John Pisano model yesterday. Great sound for the money. Good looking, too. One of the few carved tops in this price range. Worth a look, for sure.

A flat top worked good for Django to play 30's jazz.
