recording duet parts

Please bear with me as I'm not only a new player but beyond unsophisticated relative to sound equipment. My goal is very simple - I want to be able to record the many duets in Leavitt so that I can play along with them. I'm not interested in premier sound quality or multi tracks etc. just a simple practice aid.

I have BIAB but it's unclear to me if that software has the capacity to enter written music - the promo material would suggest that it does but I can't figure out how.

Would something like the GC'sTASCAM DR-05 Solid State Recorder Blue Ltd Edition Blue, be what I'm looking for or perhaps just a simple Sony digital voice recorder?

If you're only interested in the Leavitt, someone recently sent me the BiAB files for all those etudes. I haven't used them so I can't comment on how helpful they are, but I could forward them to you if you like. PM me.

Although I have to say, from a strictly practice standpoint, it is MUCH more educational and helpful to practice over backing tracks you make yourself. Use a metronome, record yourself with your webcam playing one part, then play the other part over that. You'll be getting double practice that way.

+1 for recording them yourself. I record both parts into Audacity and mute one track depending on what I'm playing.
