John Scofield Will the Real - Real Book stand up

I'm very interested in the "Real Book(s)", but question the "Fake" part??? Also the books are offered in different Keys and I'm not sure which Key I should get for the guitar. The most original Standards interest me most. Would appreciate some "Real" input.

Thank You

C instruments for guitar.

The real real book was the illegal book created by musicians. The hal leonard real books (sixth ed., and vol. 2 thru 4 are the most similar.

The sher "new" real books are excellent too.

You'll eventuaqlly want more than one. If you like standards, get the hal leonard real book sixth ed. (Yellow cover)

Remember always, a real book is a guide, not an ultimatum.

Thank You Mr.Beaumont. I'll take your advice and pick up the sixth edition, in fact I have had that very one in mind but didn't really know the correct answer. ( and yes......I'll use it as a guide)
