Good evening, Jeff...
You might like to try a method gleaned from amateur theatrics... Learn the ending first, then progressively work forward to the start, taking whatever chunk size seems suitable. This way, as one repeats successively more as the work advances, one is in more and more into familiar territory. There is less 'drying up', as what is to come has already had the most attention. Not worthwhile for short pieces, but useful for longer stints.
Hope this helps...

Emily Remlers Bb blues (her own arrangement of Wes Montgomerys 'Natural D blues'). Some nice walking bassline work in there as well as a lot of work to do with the metronome (with it clicking on 2 and 4). The solo is cool too and there's room to get creative.
If you want to find the video of her playing that youtube 'Emily Remler A blues'

Shoot, I doubt I have any of it written down anymore--I was in High School!

It's mostly a G vamp thing, IIRC...it goes to a C7 at the bridge maybe...here's that litle "bump bump" tritone guitar thing in between the sax line there...

I gotta dig that tune out. Great groove tune, and great band on that one, and then at the end of the head there's a definite G to C sound...a little slip from the m3 to the M3 on the G...like...

"h" means hammer...Sorry if I'm sloppy, I'm not a TAB guy...
