hi guys am having a probs of getting unwanted picking sound when i increase my speed. Means the sound of my pick rubbing against the strings and even more sounds with distortions. Am I picking too hard? Is it abt my amp / pickups ... etc please help... thanks
ok.. in that case, you must be slicing the strings a lot. when you hit the string do you go on an perpendicular angle? More you slice (move away from the perpendicular angle) more noise there will be
Could it be the amount of pick that slides across the string before the string is released?
Another thing to consider is how 'deep' your pick is relative to the plane of the strings. Maybe if your pick just skims along the top of the strings more.
A different pick is the cheapest way to change your sound. Try some others. (Don't forget to try playing on the shoulder of a tear drop shaped pick rather than the tip. Much warmer tone.)
Thanks guys ive changed my pick with a thinner one (as i find it difficult to change the way i'm holding the pick as itsall4you said) and it reduce the sound ...
