I've posted this excerpt which I think is a good example to discuss economy vs alternate picking. The notes in question are the last 3 notes of measure three (or measure 7, I posted two possible fingerings).
How would you pick those notes?
(In addition to voting, explanations/reasons would be good too.)
The triplet is easier played alternate. The B,G,F I would alternate pick also as the B on the down stroke and the G on the up stroke puts you at the F for the next down stroke and the final note, whatever.
On electric and acoustic I normally play with economy picking. On a gypsy instrument I "try" to use gypsy picking which uses down strokes for all string to string transitions.
