| | Question Ok, it seems I've been informed I haven't participated in the forum in a while. I was actually lured here by Jeanette's private message spam so I'm taking this time to elevate my status as a forum participator. I've been asked to ask a question so here goes.....let me think.....uummm.......nothing's coming to mind...............ok......ummmmm....I've got it.
If you break your 1st, 3rd and 6th string on your guitar and you are so broke you can't replace them, how many chords (with normal fingering range) can you play?

| | tune it to reflect a root, b3, and flat seventh. this way you have a minor seventh chord right across, a dominant 7th by adding 1 finger, and a major seventh adding two fingers.

firstly who is this jeanette with her argent provocateur ways?
anyway
in terms of maj, min 7ths. you could start on B on the 5th and slide up through all the keys with maj7 and min7 chords all with no 5th.
then you could play them as 6 chords(no 5th)
augumented and diminished triads would be fairly strait forward.
inversions of all the maj and min triads with the 5th on the a string.
giving you every maj, min, dim and aug triad.
which in theory you could say could be the upper extensions of any extended or altered chord you come to think of.
so in short, at least one voicing of every chord that exist in the western system.
i think.
i've worked this out simply by writing ADG on a piece of paper, so i'll be pleased if i'm right.
these sort of mental exercises are great though, really forces you to see how the intervals relate. also the kind of thing you can do away from your guitar. for an ad hoc spam lured question that was good. permission to steal it? |
