yeah,

I teach this stuff to some of my students from time to time. it's like 80's rock with a fake hot chick singing.

seriously, shred never died in some of those Asian countries. I find it kind of uplifting in a super pop kind of way, honestly, this is first time I've seen it on video though.

LOL. Half way through I thought, ah, this is actually interesting. They're really into robots and this sort of thing in Japan. This is like a holo-gram or something?

I'm always amazed at how so much stuff that comes from Japan seems so weird to Americans (like me). I wonder what of our culture seems equally strange to them.

Also, her legs are weird. Just sayin'

Weird, but interesting.

Kinda wish I had a glow stick right now.

I would say it's just weird...but I watched the whole thing...found it kinda fascinating, actually.

What's really interesting is the chick is totally real. They've been doing genetics manipulation a whole lot longer than we have, since after WWII. They're also way ahead of us in microelectronics and nanotechnology. About 8 years ago I heard they cloned a human genome with a nano-constructed synthetic sequence. It's pretty amazing to see the results.

I just got back from 3 weeks in Japan where my daughter lives now. It was like a breath of fresh air.(we were down south not north.....for those about to post a "fresh air" quip)
You are actually allowed to like pop music. It's ok. The cool alternative police won't get you.

Stopped watching cartoons as a way of entertainment well before I hit high school .

This is kids bubblegum $hit plain and simply put , next those who like this stuff will be buying my Little Ponies and Care Bear crap too .

Yep as P .T . Barnum said - There's a sucker born every minute when it comes to adults who don't really know which way is up .

For better or worse, this technology will no doubt expand in a big way.

I'm down with technology big time , I see this stuff as a " baby sitter " so adults can have a real time blast

My wife and I watch mainly Asian television now. Mainly Korean and Japanese. Except for the odd HBO show.
So this doesn't seem strange to me.
My observation is that they are very in touch with their emotions and not afraid to express them. If you watch their game shows and interviews you will start to understand their humour and the way they are always talking about the way they FEEL. Very open about it.
No nastiness to each other no sarcasm and a childlike sense of wonder.

I love that adults read Anime on the trains.

The 90's and 80's in regard to music are alive and well in Japan. They don't seem to care if it's not the latest trend. If it's got feeling and emotion they just embrace it.
But listening to the chord changes in some of the J Pop is quite an eye opener. Very sophisticated in some areas.
Some of the songs that get airplay have jazz changes. I love that! It just wouldn't happen here.
In fact they are WAY more alternative in their music taste than we are.

And they like Jazz.
Check this, I'm sitting in a little shop in Tokyo that sells Bagels and soup.
What's playing in the background? Charlie Parker.
I'm sitting in Starbucks.......Ella Fitzgerald.
In a shop looking at clothes.....Steely Dan.
In a shopping Mall in a suburb of Nagoya.......Miles Davis.

Man I could keep going. Jazz was part of the playlist in normal everyday places. I couldn't believe it.

I had a few holographic friends when I was younger, they looked a lot more realistic, actually you couldn't tell unless you went out to eat or something. Now they're grown up and they don't like the new look the kids have at all. Who would let their kids leave the house like that? My friend confided to me the other night "My daughter, I have to love her but I don't understand. It's like she's some kind of CARTOON or something..." But they do like the pop music, it's nice and sweet.
